My Welcome week in Bergen:

Georgiana Marinescu, University of Bergen, Norway

If you are lucky enough to be accepted into the University of Bergen, you will not regret it; they make you feel at home right away.
On the first day of the Welcome Week, all of the new exchange students gathered at the Law Faculty and we were given our wristbands for the week and put into groups. Our groups were supposed to be the people we would spend the rest of the week getting to know, and for me, some of the people in my group became my closest friends.

After the tour of the faculty was where the fun began. On the first night we all gathered at one of the mentor’s houses and we were introduced to Norwegian party games before going out- I must warn you not to try and keep up with the Norwegians when it comes to partying. On the second day we went to a concert held by a secret artist and realised you don’t have to understand Norwegian Rap to enjoy yourself. After the concert we attended a quiz held at the Law Faculty’s own bar where we all got to talk and get to know each other better. On the third day there were games and activities at one of the biggest student accommodations in Bergen (Fantoft) and an outdoor cinema event in the evening. The fourth day was one day I will not forget because it held our initiation to the Law Faculty at The university of Bergen. Now I cannot reveal this magical initiation but I will say pitchforks and a cow mascot were involved. To give you a taste of the rest of the week, from open air concerts to diving in the Fjord at night there was plenty to do in the Welcome Week and you are guaranteed to bond and make close friends. I could not have imagined a better start to my year abroad.
