Lessons From My Year Abroad
Looking back on my year in Singapore, I honestly cannot believe how much I have grown and how many memories I have made. When I first boarded the plane, I knew it would be an exciting experience, but I do not think I realised just how amazing it would be. One of the biggest things I have gained is confidence. Moving to the other side of the world, starting fresh at a new university, and meeting so many new people felt daunting at first, but it quickly became exciting. I learned to say yes to opportunities, whether that was travelling to a new country for the weekend, joining in with…

A Student’s Guide to Singapore
Living in Singapore for a year was such a fun experience, and I would definitely say it is one of the best places to spend your exchange. It may be small, but there’s always something new to see or do, and I loved exploring all the different parts of the city. Extra-Curricular Exploration
Whilst on your year abroad, the best thing I could recommend would be to travel and do it as much as you can! However, the best decision I made was to continue the travelling once I had finished my academic year. The second semester at SMU will usually finish significantly earlier than your home university so take this opportunity to continue the…

This year is different because, although I have no more academic stresses, I am being hit with the reality that my year abroad is over. SMU has been an amazing and exciting adventure that has consumed my life for the past year and the fact that I now have to say goodbye is crazy. Having spent so much time on campus and with the…

Tips for Island Hopping in the Philippines
By Courtney Blincow, Singapore Management University, Singapore Having completed my first semester at Singapore Management University, my friends and I decided to book a 10 day trip island hopping around the Philippines. Surely when studying on an exchange year it is only right that we reward our hard work with a trip to a surrounding country, right? Well this is exactly what we did and 3 days after my final exam I was on a flight out of Changi Airport to Cebu City.
