A jampacked month-long adventure through Vietnam – the best parts worth doing

    September 1, 2025 /

Due to the visa situation with UNSW meaning that my time in Australia had to come to an end slightly earlier than people at some other universities, I wanted to spend more time travelling before coming home. Choosing Vietnam as the place to do this was not a very difficult choice for me. Jetstar (the Aussie budget airline) fly to Ho Chi Minh City directly for a pretty reasonable price and the costs in Vietnam are very affordable, a very important aspect for a budgeting student traveller. As a UK citizen, I was allowed 30 days visa-free travel within the country and I made sure to extract every moment I…

Saying goodbye to Sydney :( some final recommendations and realities

    August 6, 2025 /

By Logan Tilley, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia It has taken me a couple of months to get around to writing my final blog about Sydney as it just doesn’t seem real that it isn’t my home anymore. I remember seeing these goodbye blogs when I was excited to leave for my year abroad not too long ago and I didn’t think too hard about it as it was so far away. But, one of the realities of such an incredible experience to study abroad is that time does feel like it flies by quickly. Days are filled with new and exciting things to do and see and…

    Exploring unbelievable K’gari (Fraser Island)

    March 27, 2025 /

By Logan Tilley, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to venture back up the East Coast of Australia to Rainbow Beach with my family who had flown over to visit and see some of the sights of the country. However, this trip was far and away the highlight of it all. The trip started with a pickup from a convoy of 4X4s led by a single tour guide. The rest of the vehicles were driven in rotation by other people on the tour, making it that much more interactive. This particular tour was a three-day, two-night immersive experience and I would…

One week in tropical North Queensland

    January 24, 2025 /

By Logan Tilley, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia As the Australian summer holiday begins, my journey of exploring more of the Australian East Coast continues. I decided that I wanted to visit the gateway to tropical North Queensland, Cairns. For a very long time this part of the country has been what I dreamed of seeing in Australia and I am now finally getting over to it from Sydney.

Solo traveling the South Island without a car – Much easier than you think!

    January 13, 2025 /

By Logan Tilley, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia Since arriving in Australia I’ve heard so much about how New Zealand is the absolute best place to go, especially considering how far away it is from the UK. However, what everyone has said is that it pretty much can only be done properly in a car or in a camper van. This was a problem for me as a Londoner, yes I’m going to use that as my excuse, as I do not yet have a license. The main way I found people traveled without a car was with the Kiwi Experience or another tour like that but warning…

Achieving my dream of seeing the Great Barrier Reef and Byron Bay

    September 9, 2024 /

By Logan Tilley, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia Ever since watching my first Attenborough-narrated environmental documentary when I was a kid, there was only one place top of my list for places to go in the world. That was the Great Barrier Reef, and this trip reassured me that it was about the smartest dream I’ve ever had. If there’s one blatant thing that UNSW has over USyd, it’s this – the exchange-only winter term course ‘Coral Reefs in a Changing Climate’. Not only was this perfect for me as a Geography student who loves the environment, but it offered a field trip to the Heron Island Research…

Here are photos from my end of year trip from Yosemite, Zion and Joshua Tree National Parks from our Global Ambassador Lucy 🧡 #uomgoabroad #globalambassador Some pics from our summer school students who are currently my in Bordeaux, France (yes, the summer school has its very own dog) ☀🇫🇷🥐 #uomgoabroad These are from my journey on the California Zephyr Amtrak train, from Chicago to San Francisco. The journey was 56 hours but the views of the Rockies and Sierra Nevada were incredible! It is a great trip to do to see more of the USA and also be more sustainable as your carbon emissions are much lower travelling by train compared to flying. - GA Lucy 🚉 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador The last year of my life without a doubt has been the most incredible. I met wonderful people, tasted things I couldn't have imagined and saw the most beautiful sights. Not only did I get to learn a language, but I got to learn about our amazing world and more importantly, Mexico. In my last few weeks, I had the privilege of continuing my travels within Mexico and getting to see how my friends from UDLAP grew up and the culture that raised them. With so many colours even in the streets, its no surprise my friends are so joyful. México, te extraño mucho <3 🇲🇽🧡 Sunny afternoon in Amsterdam - GA Lily ☀️🇳🇱 Go Abroad is hiring! 📣 Photos from our GA Kara's semester in New Zealand - featuring the Routeburn track! 🇳🇿 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador My friends and future Manchester housemates came to visit me from London. I showed them around New York City! Despite it being chilly we had a lot of fun!! I now know why they call it the windy city - even in May!" 🇺🇸 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador
