    Is the MuseumKaart worth it?

    September 9, 2023 /

By Molly Hayward, University of Amsterdam, Netherlands Amsterdam can be a very expensive city so any ways to save money are always welcome. I decided at the beginning of the year to buy the MuseumKaart for 64.90 Euros. In this post I will outline some of the galleries it covers in Amsterdam and how much money was saved.

    Cycling In Amsterdam

    February 23, 2023 /

Molly Hayward – University of Amsterdam, Netherlands Before I moved to The Netherlands of course I heard how much cycling went on in Amsterdam. It was one of the things that drew me to come here. However, the city has far surpassed what I could have imagined in terms of both, the cultural relationship with cycling, and the infrastructure built up around this culture. This post is going to go over some of the ways biking is facilitated in Amsterdam, how this differs from the UK and some suggestions of things that can help you when cycling around the city.

First Impressions of Sustainability in Amsterdam

    November 8, 2022 /

By Molly Hayward, University Of Amsterdam, The Netherlands Amsterdam is well known as an ‘eco-capital’ and is a prominent example of a sustainable city. This was one of the elements that led to me choosing it for my study abroad. Since arriving, a couple of months ago, I have had time to create initial impressions of how true this is on the ground, these are my thoughts: Firstly there is a great deal of visible sustainability. The UVA campus has lots of water points scattered around, the coffee machines recommend re-using the compostable cup and there is a notable lack of plastic disposal cutlery available – choosing instead the wooden…

"My first two weeks in Perth! I’ve had a proper Aussie induction through AFL and rugby games, meeting a koala (and snake!) and decorating my own boomerang. Despite it being winter, I have also spent a lot of time by the sea, at Scarborough and Cottelsoe Beaches and visited Matilda Bay on Swan River (not even a 5 minute walk from campus). Through St Catherine’s College, I attended my first Formal Hall (the academic gown) and visited an incredible viewpoint overlooking the Perth skyline." from our GA Elizabeth in Australia 🐨🇦🇺🧡 #uomgoabroad #globalambassador A week in the life at our summer school in Siena ☀️🇮🇹🍕📚🍦🌅 #uom_goabroad Here are photos from my end of year trip from Yosemite, Zion and Joshua Tree National Parks from our Global Ambassador Lucy 🧡 #uomgoabroad #globalambassador Some pics from our summer school students who are currently my in Bordeaux, France (yes, the summer school has its very own dog) ☀🇫🇷🥐 #uomgoabroad These are from my journey on the California Zephyr Amtrak train, from Chicago to San Francisco. The journey was 56 hours but the views of the Rockies and Sierra Nevada were incredible! It is a great trip to do to see more of the USA and also be more sustainable as your carbon emissions are much lower travelling by train compared to flying. - GA Lucy 🚉 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador The last year of my life without a doubt has been the most incredible. I met wonderful people, tasted things I couldn't have imagined and saw the most beautiful sights. Not only did I get to learn a language, but I got to learn about our amazing world and more importantly, Mexico. In my last few weeks, I had the privilege of continuing my travels within Mexico and getting to see how my friends from UDLAP grew up and the culture that raised them. With so many colours even in the streets, its no surprise my friends are so joyful. México, te extraño mucho <3 🇲🇽🧡 Sunny afternoon in Amsterdam - GA Lily ☀️🇳🇱 Go Abroad is hiring! 📣 Photos from our GA Kara's semester in New Zealand - featuring the Routeburn track! 🇳🇿 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador
