Saying Goodbye!: Tales of a Mancunian Lost in the City of Angels

    September 5, 2024 /

By David Sustana, University of Southern California, United States Howdy again, and for the last time, for now! If you’ve been keeping up with these blog posts throughout the past academic year, then you probably already know that the adventures that I’ve been sharing had been stretching further and further past the City of Angels, but for this last blog post, I’d like to reel things back to the place they started: South Central Los Angeles, home to the University of Southern California!

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas!: Tales of a Mancunian Lost in the City of Angels

    September 3, 2024 /

By David Sustana, University of Southern California, United States Hello hello hello again, from what may just be the sunniest place on the planet! But not nearly the hottest: I’d have to give that title to Fabulous Las Vegas, where I had an absolutely surreal weekend that I thought I should share. (And, on a side note, I am aware that my adventures are beginning to exceed the scope of these blog titles.)

Fight on, Trojans!: Tales of a Mancunian Lost in the City of Angels

    May 10, 2024 /

By David Sustana, University of Southern California, United States Hey from Southern California! Just wanted to update everyone on a really fun weekend that I had at USC. Today was the day of the big, annual rivalry (American!) football game between arch-rivals USC (go Trojans!) and UCLA (boo Bruins!). And let me tell you, the energy on and around campus was electric. I’d say it rivals (or, dare I say, surpasses) that of a Man City versus Man United game. But there are some pretty big differences between an English football game and an American college football game.

On the Road Again!: Tales of a Mancunian Lost in the City of Angels

    May 3, 2024 /

By David Sustana, University of Southern California, United States Hey there, just checking in again from sunny Southern California! Although, I guess I should really say Northern California, as I’ve just gotten back from a wonderful road trip with some friends from Golden Gate City (a.k.a San Francisco!).

A New Chapter: Tales of a Mancunian Lost in the City of Angels

    January 11, 2024 /

By David Sustana, University of Southern California, United States Things have been crazy since I last wrote. First of all, if you’ve been keeping up with the blog, then you’d probably know that I was scheduled to go on a trip with the SC Outfitters society to California’s famous Salton Sea. Unfortunately, I don’t have any updates or pictures to share of that because it was cancelled at the last minute. However, it is being rescheduled for a future date, so stay tuned and hopefully I will have more to share about that coming up! But besides that, things have been busy. I got to celebrate a very American Thanksgiving…

California Dreamin’: Tales of a Mancunian Lost in the City of Angels

    November 11, 2023 /

By David Sustana, University of Southern California, United States Arrival and First Impressions Wow, what a whirlwind it’s been! As I’m writing this, I feel like I have finally and truly ‘landed’ in Los Angeles and found my niche. Everything has just been incredible here. The food. The weather. The atmosphere in LA and on campus. And that last part particularly has been consistent throughout my entire time here so far. From the moment I stepped onto campus, everyone has been welcoming and has helped to make this experience what it has been for me so far. Although I should note that I actually started my California Dreamin’ journey in…

Same thing. Said two ways. Both agree that you should apply now. #uom_goabroad Some of the fun activities and events that Rutgers has put on for free for all students! A stand-up set by Caleb Hearon, basketball games, a Coach pop-up event, a trip to see the New Jersey Devils play and a trip to the United Nations in New York! - GA Amy 🏀🇺🇸 #globalambassador #uom_goabroad My trip to New York in December, as a layover on my way home. I went to the top of the rock, watched a show, and visited the MET. For students on a travel grant especially, a long layover is a great way to see new places, especially if your journey home is as long as the one from Australia to the UK. - GA Lily ✈️🇺🇸 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador Scholarship opportunity for undergraduate students completing an international experience! Open to any student completing a study abroad, summer school, or a work, internship or traineeship placement in 2026 🌍 First snow in New Jersey, the east coast gets cold and new weather conditions is all part of the new experiences on exchange! - GA Amy ❄ #uom_goabroad #globalambassador I had an incredible time travelling up the east coast of Australia in December with another of the GAs, visiting the Gold Coast up to Magnetic Island. We had the chance to get up close to a Koala, but one leg of the journey was 17 hours by coach! - GA Lily 🇦🇺🐨🦘 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador GA Lily - My trip to Bangkok and Ho Chi Mihn City for my first semester break. It was a surprisingly easy and affordable trip from Australia, and well worth it for the night markets and food alone. 🧡 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador Want to capture memories of your study abroad whilst boosting your CV and enhancing your personal development - become a Global Ambassador❗️ Applications are open, find more info in our linktree (in our bio) 🧡 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador Would you like to join an interdisciplinary cohort of master’s students interested in leadership and community engagement - and spend a few years in Canada?🇨🇦
