Time is flying!

by Ffion Davies, University of Queensland, Australia

It’s already my first week back at uni after mid semester break of second semester!! I genuinely can’t believe how fast the time is going. I wish I could stop the clock and stay here forever! Over mid semester break I took a trip to the Gold Coast to visit a friend I made on my trip to Bali back in January. That’s one thing that is amazing about this experience is actually meeting up with people again that you’ve met along the way. The people I’ve met abroad are genuine and fabulous people. Many people I’ve met on my travels have made the effort to meet up when they have been in or near Brisbane. Having met a lot of people from the UK in Bali, I hope we can also meet up on our return. As well as friends I’ve made through the exchange society who are from all over the world!

I then took a solo trip to Melbourne. It was nice to take time for myself and unwind from what has been a very busy first half of the semester. But I wouldn’t have it any other way! Whilst being in Melbourne, I took a day trip to the Great Ocean Road which is something else to tick off the bucket list. Even though the weather wasn’t great, it didn’t taint the beauty of the attractions we stopped off at along the way like the 12 Apostles. Being able to solo travel, even just a short trip to Melbourne really shows how much my confidence has grown since I’ve been here. I never would have thought about solo travelling before.

I then stayed at Rainbow beach with 4 friends. We stayed at an Air B&B for 2 nights and it was so wholesome. I loved cooking together, playing games, and reflecting on the fun we’d had during the semester so far. We went on a day trip to Fraser Island, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The week off from uni has gone way too fast but as they say time flies when you’re having fun, so maybe it’s a good sign. The time off uni and the trips were definitely needed as the second half of the semester is full of dreaded assessment deadlines.
