Bored in Bergen? Why not get a tattoo?
By Georgiana Marinescu, University of Bergen, Norway
This may be an unusual activity to write a blog about, but if you love tattoos like I do, this post is for you.
All I had heard since i moved to Bergen was how expensive it was to get a tattoo and how it would be better to get one in a different country but I was adamant on getting something to represent my time in Norway and I wanted to get it done in Norway.
Luck was on my side as around September 2023 me and my friend happened to run into a tattoo studio in Lagunen (a shopping centre just outside of central Bergen). What shocked us even more was that one of the artists at the studio was offering a 2 for 1 deal on smaller tattoos (to my knowledge she was still offering that deal in June 2024). We could not pass on this chance for cheap tattoos and made appointments immediately. For one of my tattoos i decided to get a mountain to represent the mountains surrounding Bergen and i was so happy with the quality of that tattoo that the artist became my go to artist in Bergen.

Everyone talks about the hikes, and the boat trips, and the museums that you can visit in Bergen; but if you want something memorable and unconventional, why not a tattoo?
