National Day Singapore

By Ruohan Zhang, National University of Singapore, Singapore

Right before I officially start my NUS exchange life, I got the chance to enjoy their National Day! Firework, military parade, and other events, was truly an unforgettable experience!

During the period of Singaporean National Day, different event will be hosted in different area. So you could choose which one to go to depending on your preference.

I went to Marina Bay as I was just around the area. Before the sun goes down, they will have events like plane flypast, which was really cool, for those who are interested in plane, you might even recognise the model of the plane.

Everything generally will start around 6pm and as the sun goes down, other events like light show and firework will start, so if you want to go, make sure you leave some time for finding a nice view point! It will get very crowded!!!

Fireworks, flypast and other events can be seen all the way from Merlion to Esplanade, so you can choose the spot best for you! And a little note: don’t forget to bring your own snacks and water bottle and even a small cushion or something to lie on!

I’ve really enjoyed the firework, and hope you get the chance to see it as well!
