Choosing Osaka University as my study abroad choice was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Osaka University comprises of the Toyonaka, Suita, and Minoh campuses of which foreign languages students study at the Minoh Campus. In 2021, the campus was completed comprising of 10 floors adding up to a total 24,896 square metres. The facilities are very new and shiny so you can look forward to that if you decide to come to Osaka Uni.

Places to eat

Around campus there is a wide range of restaurants you can choose from when you get tired of cooking. My favourites are the curry naan set from Dip Rasna which is located in the COM3 building opposite the dormitory and the tomato ramen from Kyushu Ramen Kiou which is in Beaver World, only a 6 minute walk from campus. There is also a cafeteria on the 3rd floor of the Minoh Campus building which I go to for lunch on weekdays. The cafeteria provides nutritious and affordable meals that cater for a wide range of people. I usually go for a rice meal but there is also curry and noodles available from ¥300-¥700.

Places to shop

Osaka University’s Minoh Campus is thankfully located in a very convenient location being only a few steps away from Minoh-Semba Handai-mae Station. This station is connected to the Midosuji Subway Line which goes through the main attractions of Osaka. I shop for my daily essentials from Fresco, the supermarket located underneath the dorm. If I need any toiletries or other goods I usually go to Minoh Q’s Mall or Senri Pal which are both located only one stop away from the dorm.

Places to study

I usually study in my room but if you are someone who needs to be away from their bed to study there is an ample amount of study spaces you can choose from at Osaka.

Minoh Campus has many different types of study spaces ranging from solo spaces to group tables on the majority of floors. There are also outdoor tables to choose from. If you are in need of a book Minoh City Semba Library is located next to Minoh Campus which members of the public have access to.

I hope this has given you an insight into Osaka University’s best spots.
