    Raleigh

    August 27, 2013 /

By Matt Briggs (North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, USA). Well, I’ve just realised I really didn’t pack very well for Raleigh. I brought jeans and long sleeve shirts as well as jackets and jumpers. I’ts been about 34 degrees everyday! It’s so hot. Other than the fact that I’ve been overheating all the time and getting sun-burnt and looking like a Brit on holiday, it’s been good. I’ve had my first set of classes now and it feels a bit more like school (which is nice). You get sent homework every class and it needs to be in the next week. I’m just getting used to doing work…

    Overflowing suitcase…

    August 23, 2013 /

By Hanan L’Estrange-Snowden (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA). So right now I’m supposed to be packing, but the process of over-filling my suitcase has made me reflect on the coming year and I thought that this would be a good time to start my blog. To be honest, everything feels quite surreal right now. I have spent so long planning and preparing that it doesn’t feel like it is actually going to happen tomorrow. The last few weeks I have been trying to ignore the tiny part of me that keeps reminding me that a year is a long time to be away. Even Christmas seems far…

North Carolina – Getting Ready To Go

    August 13, 2013 /

So this is my first post before leaving England to head to North Carolina State University  (NCSU) as its also known to become a member of the NC State Wolfpack. Currently I’m just sitting here staring at a rather sizeable pile of clothes but other than packing I think everything is good to go. My passport isn’t due to expire for a few years, I have my student visa, my health records, I’ve paid for my halls of residence, health insurance and all other fees that you have to. So as far as all the physical things I need and paperwork goes I’m all set. I’ve also toured/been dragged around…

"My first two weeks in Perth! I’ve had a proper Aussie induction through AFL and rugby games, meeting a koala (and snake!) and decorating my own boomerang. Despite it being winter, I have also spent a lot of time by the sea, at Scarborough and Cottelsoe Beaches and visited Matilda Bay on Swan River (not even a 5 minute walk from campus). Through St Catherine’s College, I attended my first Formal Hall (the academic gown) and visited an incredible viewpoint overlooking the Perth skyline." from our GA Elizabeth in Australia 🐨🇦🇺🧡 #uomgoabroad #globalambassador A week in the life at our summer school in Siena ☀️🇮🇹🍕📚🍦🌅 #uom_goabroad Here are photos from my end of year trip from Yosemite, Zion and Joshua Tree National Parks from our Global Ambassador Lucy 🧡 #uomgoabroad #globalambassador Some pics from our summer school students who are currently my in Bordeaux, France (yes, the summer school has its very own dog) ☀🇫🇷🥐 #uomgoabroad These are from my journey on the California Zephyr Amtrak train, from Chicago to San Francisco. The journey was 56 hours but the views of the Rockies and Sierra Nevada were incredible! It is a great trip to do to see more of the USA and also be more sustainable as your carbon emissions are much lower travelling by train compared to flying. - GA Lucy 🚉 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador The last year of my life without a doubt has been the most incredible. I met wonderful people, tasted things I couldn't have imagined and saw the most beautiful sights. Not only did I get to learn a language, but I got to learn about our amazing world and more importantly, Mexico. In my last few weeks, I had the privilege of continuing my travels within Mexico and getting to see how my friends from UDLAP grew up and the culture that raised them. With so many colours even in the streets, its no surprise my friends are so joyful. México, te extraño mucho <3 🇲🇽🧡 Sunny afternoon in Amsterdam - GA Lily ☀️🇳🇱 Go Abroad is hiring! 📣 Photos from our GA Kara's semester in New Zealand - featuring the Routeburn track! 🇳🇿 #uom_goabroad #globalambassador
